Bitter Aperitifs

The term of bitter is used to designate spirit drinks obtained by maceration, infusion and / or distillation of plants, herbs, peels, roots, or bitter fruits in neutral alcohol conferring it a predominant bitter taste. Originally, bitters were often elixirs or therapeutic preparations but in the XXth century they became the essential bases of mythical cocktails (Spritz, Angostura, Americano, Manhattan, Blackthorn, Bennett, Thistle, ...)
